    (worldwide - rates effective from 4th April 2011)

    There are now only two charge zones : Europe (details), and Rest of World. Delivery times via AirMail vary according to the destination country (for the U.S.A. or Canada, for example, it is normally five working days after despatch). All packages have to be accompanied by a declaration of their contents for Customs purposes

    Apart from the basic service, additional AirMail services are available, such as AirSure and International Signed For (details)

    Please note: Royal Mail only ever offer compensation for loss in transit. They do not offer compensation for damage in transit of items made of either glass or ceramics, for any of their services. However, regular customers will know that we package everything extremely carefully, in order to minimise the risk

    minimum dimensions:one surface must be at least 90mm x 140mm
    maximum dimensions:the sum of the length, width and depth must not exceed 900mm, and the longest side must not exceed 600mm

    Airsure
    (rates effective from 4th April 2011)

    With Airsure, packages leave on the first available flight, receive priority handling abroad, and are electronically tracked all the way to the final delivery address. A fee of £5.30 per item is payable on top of the Airmail postage, which includes up to £46 compensation in the event of loss in transit. An extra £2.50 per item buys you extra compensation of up to either £250 or £500, depending on the destination country

    Airsure is currently available only to the following destinations (more destinations are expected to be added eventually):

    Europe: Andorra, Austria, Azores, Balearic Islands, Belgium, Canary Islands, Corsica, Denmark, Faroe Islands, Finland, France, Germany, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Madeira, Monaco, Netherlands, Portugal, Republic of Ireland, Slovak Republic, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland

    World Zone one: Brazil, Canada, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Singapore and USA

    International Signed For
    (rates effective from 4th April 2011)

    For either AirMail or Surface Mail. Packages are electronically tracked as far as the point of departure from the UK, and a signature is obtained upon delivery. A fee of £4.95 per item is payable on top of the Airmail or Surface Mail postage. This price includes up to £46 compensation in the event of loss in transit. Additional compensation of up to either £250 or £500 (depending on the destination country) can be obtained for a premium of £2.50

    N.B. The SwiftAir service has now been discontinued by Royal Mail

    Surface Mail - small packets tariff
    (worldwide, up to 2 kilograms - rates effective from 4th April 2011)

    For many international destinations, a much cheaper option than AirMail, but obviously very much slower. Delivery times are likely to be:

    Western EuropeUp to 2 weeks from date of posting
    Eastern EuropeUp to 5 weeks
    North AmericaUp to 6 weeks
    South America, Africa and AsiaUp to 8 weeks
    AustralasiaUp to 12 weeks

    Rates include automatic, standard compensation cover of up to £34 for loss in transit. As usual, all packages have to be accompanied by a declaration of their contents for Customs purposes

    There are nine different ParcelForce Worldwide zones outside the UK, so pricing is quite complex.
